Lombardians gathered at 10 a.m. Monday for the Village of Lombard’s Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Lombard Common. The program to honor our nation’s service men and women who gave their lives for our country included featured speaker Lombard VFW Lilac Post 5815 Commander Tom Zilla, singing by the Glenbard East Eastwind Vocal Ensemble and the Glenbard East WAVE, the Roll Call of the Honored Dead and the Ringing of the Bell ceremony, the laying of a wreath by Lombard American Legion Post 391, a rifle squad gun salute by Lombard VFW Lilac Post 5815 and Stanford’s Battery Civil War cannon fire.
