Our nation’s service men and women who gave their lives for their country will be remembered during the Village of Lombard’s Memorial Day ceremony Monday, May 27. The whole community is invited to attend the observance, which will begin at 10 a.m. (new time) at the Veterans Memorial in the Sunken Garden in Lombard Common near Grace and Maple streets. Lombard Veterans of Foreign Wars Lilac Post 5815 Commander Tom Zilla (top photo) will be the featured speaker at the observance. Zilla is pictured in the bottom photo with VFW Post 5815 Post members (left to right) Bernie Bucholz, Gene Rymut, Joe Glazier, Boy Scout Troop 202 Eagle Scout Andrew Ernat, who will lead the Pledge of Allegiance; and post member Jim Spalo.
