Community clean-up in York Center
Come out and help the York Center Park District keep the parks looking great. The parks department is looking for your help to preservethe natural environment and tend to the prairie restoration area. Participants will be picking up litter in and around Knolls and Knolls Community Park. This is a great way for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to earn their environmental patches and service hours. Woman of the Year to be announced tonight
The announcement of the 2019 Lombard Woman of the Year will be made at the Lombard Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave., tonight, April 11 at 6 p.m. Special guests include past Women of the Year and village officials. Light refreshments will be served. Senior Men’s Club meets April 16
The Senior Men’s Club will meet April 16 at 1 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Lombard Bible Church (not affiliated), 111 S. Park Ave. (south side entrance), Lombard. Plum Library programs
“Expect the Expected: Interview Questions You Know You’ll Be Asked” tonight, April 11, at 7 p.m. Community Career Center will be here to provide valuable information and helpful tips to help you nail the interview. “Jazz for the Generations” Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m. Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with jazz ensemble Planet Flippo. They’ll present unique arrangements of popular melodies from the 1960s to the present, blended with Flippo originals and jazz standards. Senior Social: “Gone With the Wind: The Story Behind the Story” Monday, April 15, at 1 p.m. Join the library in marking the 80th anniversary of this iconic film. Participants will hear engaging stories of Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable and others as you step back in time to experience the sweeping cinematic masterpiece. Registration is required for these programs. Holy Week services at Holy Trinity Lutheran
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 350 East Madison in Lombard will start Holy Week with one service on Palm Sunday, April 14, at 9:30 a.m. beginning with the procession of Palms, Passion Play and first communion for several of the children. The Joyful Jrs and Adult Choirs will be singing. Maundy Thursday, April 18, is a soup supper in the Fellowship Hall, 5:30-6:30 p.m. with a Worship Service in the same area at 6:45 p.m. until 7 p.m. when attendees will process upstairs to the church to strip the altar for Good Friday. Science Explorers in York Center
Science Explorers: Does your child ages 3-5 want to explore the world of science? Join the York Center Park District each week as participants create different fun experiments and gather some basic science knowledge. Informational meeting for local Realtors
In an effort to provide up-to-date information about the district as well as highlight some of the unique attributes of its programming, officials in Lombard District 44 will be hosting an informational meeting for local Realtors on Wednesday, April 17, from noon to 1 p.m. During the event, Realtors will learn about the district’s Dual Language Program, take a tour of the award-winning John Schroder Early Childhood Center and hear from Superintendent Ted Stec. Villa Park Library Easter craft April 20
The Villa Park Public Library will hold an Easter Craft Open House on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, from 2-4 p.m. Children of all ages can celebrate the holiday with a fun craft.
