IC Catholic Prep boys basketball team wraps up season

The IC Catholic Prep boys basketball team concluded its season after a 49-45 loss to Elgin St. Edward in the semifinals of the Class 2A Timothy Christian regional in Elmhurst.

Dom Gaudio led the Knights with 14 points, while Ryan Wojtalewicz added 12 points. Zach Jordan finished with nine points. Jordan’s points came via three 3-pointers. Gaudio also sank a pair of 3s in the contest. Danny Cronin added nine rebounds, while Wojtalewicz had four rebounds.

IC Catholic did have success sharing the ball with 16 assists on its 19 baskets. Chauncey Lee had seven assists, while Jordan had five. Gaudio added two steals. The Knights scored six points off turnovers and had four second-chance points off 51 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from the 3-point line.

Jordan ended up leading the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game. Lee was at 10.0 points, while Wojtalewicz averaged 9.5 points and Gaudio averaged 9.0 points. Wojtalewicz averaged 6.2 rebounds, while Cronin was at 4.8, Gaudio at 3.9, Lee at 3.2 and Mike Carpanzano at 3.1. Lee averaged 3.8 assists per contest, while Gaudio led the team with 41 steals and had 42 deflections to go with a team-high 28 blocked shots. Lee had 34 steals and a team-best 44 deflections.

IC Catholic Prep finished the season 11-17.
