Dear Abraham Lincoln…

Sheldon Peck would have been proud again this year of the letters that were written by fifth-grade students who pretended to be Peck writing a personal letter to Abraham Lincoln in 1848. Six of the students who submitted the highest scoring letters were honored at an awards ceremony March 17 at the Sheldon Peck Homestead Museum by the Lombard Historical Society, which hosts the contest. Pictured are contest winners (standing left to right) first-place winner Alissa Novak (Pleasant Lane School), second-place winner Kenya Ezell (Butterfield School), third-place winner Gwendolyn McIntosh (Pleasant Lane School), and (seated left to right) Avery Corral (Pleasant Lane School), Callie Hardtke (St. John’s Lutheran School), and Georgiann Romano (St. John’s Lutheran School), who received honorable mention certificates.
