‘Lifesavers’ honored by Lombard Village Board

The Village of Lombard held a special recognition ceremony before the Feb. 7 Lombard Village Board of Trustees meeting to honor Lombard Police Officer Dan Herrera and Lombard residents Justin Mueller and Stephen Spapperi. On the evening of Jan. 14, the three came to the aid of 96-year-old Antoinette Lazarra, of Burr Ridge, whose car became stuck on the railroad tracks at Grace Street and St. Charles Road in Lombard. Herrera, Mueller and Spapperi helped Lazarra out of her car and off the tracks just moments before it was struck by a westbound Metra train. Herrera and Mueller are pictured following the ceremony with their certificates of recognition.
