Timothy Christian’s Harris hits for 33 and 24 points at York’s Tosh

The Timothy Christian boys basketball team came away with a pair of wins at the always-competitive 32-team Jack Tosh Holiday Classic hosted by York.

The Trojans opened play with a 56-37 loss to Wheaton North. Timothy led 15-12 after the first quarter, but was outscored 16-7 in the second quarter and 19-6 in the fourth quarter.

Zach Orange and Josh Harris each had 10 points for the Trojans. Jack Baldridge added nine points. Timothy shot 43.3 percent from the field. Danardo Jones added six rebounds, while AJ Vos had four rebounds. Matt Owens had three assists.

Timothy then edged Wheaton St. Francis 55-53. The Trojans led 20-13 after one and 33-25 at halftime. St. Francis outscored Timothy 28-22 in the second half.

Harris exploded for 24 points in the contest on 10 of 17 shooting. He sank three 3-pointers. Vos added 10 points, while Jones and Owens each had seven points. Jones also had 11 rebounds, while Orange and Owens each had four rebounds. Jones had four assists and Harris had two steals. Timothy shot 38.8 percent from the field.

The Trojans were 66-61 winners over Elk Grove on the third day of the tournament. Elk Grove led 15-11 after the first quarter and 31-19 at intermission.

Timothy outscored Elk Grove 26-8 in the third quarter and the two teams combined for 43 points in the fourth quarter (Elk Grove 22-21 advantage).

Harris again was a key cog for the Trojans. He finished with 33 points on 13 of 20 shooting. He made four 3-pointers and three free throws. Jones added 10 points, while Vos had nine points and Owens finished with seven points. Jones had 12 rebounds. Owens pulled in six rebounds and had six assists. Orange and Harris each had four rebounds. Timothy shot 49.1 percent from the field.

The Trojans wrapped up play at York with a 57-51 loss to Sandburg. Timothy trailed 16-14 after the first quarter and 28-27 at halftime. The Trojans were down only 37-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

Vos led the way with 15 points, while Owens had 11 points. Harris added eight points and Orange had six points. Jones pulled in nine rebounds. Owens had four rebounds. Harris finished with three steals. Timothy sank 8 of 20 three-point tries with Vos, Ornge and Harris each making two.
