Villa Park house fire claims a life, injures 3; Injured includes two first responders

Villa Park and surrounding area fire crews responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of North Lincoln Ave. at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15.

According to a Villa Park Police Dept. release, one person in the single-family residence was declared dead at the scene and another was transported to Elmhurst Hospital with unspecified, but non-life threatening, injuries. Names of the victims had not been released as of press time.

Two emergency responders were also injured during the fire. Reports indicated the injured officers were among the first on the scene and suffered injuries while trying to rescue the home’s residents. Both injuries were minor and the officers were treated at the hospital and released the same day, according to Fire Dept. officials.

The Villa Park Police Dept. and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force are investigating the cause of the fire.
