Friday, Dec. 7

The Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation will host its 42nd Annual Reindeer Route Housewalk, with two sessions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance available at the EMH Foundation office at 155 E. Brush Hill Rd. or online at emhfoundation.org/events. Advance tickets available at Pink Elephant Resale Shop, Wild Rose Floral (Elmhurst Hospital), Carousel Flowers, Phillip’s Flowers and The Uptown Shop, and in Lombard at Blossoms of Lombard and Shamrock Garden Florist.

On the day of the Housewalk, tickets will be available for $40 at Guaranteed Rate, 115 W. Adelaide St. from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tickets will not be available for purchase at the featured homes. The Foundation is seeking donations of art supplies, books and small games to be placed in waiting rooms at the Nancy W. Knowles Cancer Center. Info: emhfoundation.org or call (331) 221-0388.

Friday, Dec. 7

Sunday, Dec. 9

From 12:15-2:30 p.m., the Single Mothers Support Group will hold its Christmas Party as its monthly meeting at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. Enjoy a Christmas sing-along and lunch with your children, then children go to free child care (for infants through age 12), while mothers hear reflections of the Christmas season by author Liz Lampkin. Monday, Dec. 10

From 7-8:30 p.m., enjoy It’s a Wonderful Life Radio Play with GreenMan Theatre Troupe at the Elmhurst Public Library. Free, but reservations are required. Info: elmhursthistory.org or call (630) 833-1457.

 

Saturday, Dec. 15

  • At 9:30 a.m., York Theater in conjunction with the Elmhurst History Museum, will hold a free screening of the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Doors open at 9 a.m. Free.
  • From 12-3 p.m., join a Snow Globe Family Craft Activity at the Elmhurst History Museum, 12-3 p.m., $4 per person (reservations required). Info: elmhursthistory.org or call (630) 833-1457.

 

Holly Trolley runs Saturdays thru Dec 29

The City of Elmhurst has announced that the Explore Elmhurst “Holly Trolley” will be running on Saturdays now through Dec. 29 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The trolley will follow the same route as the summer trolley program.

 

Ongoing programs:

  • Now through Jan. 6, 2019, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, 220 Cottage Hill Ave., presents a special exhibit “Fabergé Figurative Carvings.” Modern carvings from the House of Fabergé, feature Russian folklore figures of the Kvass Seller, the Gypsy Fortune Teller and the Vagabond made of Russian gemstone materials.   • Widows or Widowers (WOW) meet every third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 537 S. York Road.   • The Elmhurst American Legion, T.H.B. Post No. 187, hosts a fish fry every Friday night from 6-8:30 p.m. New York steaks are available first Friday of the month. Musical entertainment follows.
