Bomb threat sent to local business via e-mail

According to a release issued by Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth and the City of Elmhurst, on Thursday, Dec. 13, at approximately 2 p.m., police responded to a report of a bomb threat that was received by e-mail to a business in the 300 block of North York Rd. The E-mail demanded Bitcoin cash and threatened that an explosive device might be used.

Police believe the incident may be related to a series of similar threats that have been received throughout the country on Thursday.

Residents are reminded to immediately report any suspicious activity to police and to guard personal information especially when communicating online.
