Born in 1924 in Harvey, and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, Jackie met Roger Lang in Dubuque and they were married in 1950. Jackie and Roger moved to Elmhurst in 1952, where their daughter Holly was born and raised. She and Roger enjoyed 30 years of marriage until he passed away in 1980.

A few years later, Jackie met Larry Fricke through mutual friends. They were married in 1983, and over the next 35 years, enjoyed a loving marriage along with two families who blended together to have some wonderful times and provide mutual family love and support.

She was a great role model, and along with her husband Larry, an active participant in and supporter of many activities and programs at Elmhurst College. Her passions also included life’s finer touches, such as chocolate, fashion and dining out. An avid bridge player, reader and lover of crossword puzzles, Jackie enjoyed her senior years as a doting grandmother who attended countless athletic events and performances of her grandchildren.

Throughout her life in Elmhurst, she enjoyed deep and supportive lifelong friendships with many whom she first met during her early years in Elmhurst.

She will be sorely missed and remembered by the many family and friends whose lives she touched. They hold many fond memories of her, which they will cherish.

A private interment with family took place at Mt. Emblem Cemetery on Sunday, Aug. 26 and a service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 125 W. Church St., with a reception to follow at a location to be announced.
