York boys gymnastics team qualifies five for state meet

The York boys gymnastics team finished third at the recent Schaumburg sectional. The Dukes posted a 148.550 team score. Schaumburg won the sectional title with a 153.450.

Individually, sophomore Charlie Cripe is headed to the state meet on floor exercise after taking third in the event at Schaumburg with a 9.000 score. Sophomore Dominic Milazzo also will go to state in the event after finishing fourth with an 8.900.

John Gill won the still rings sectional title with a 9.400 and will head to state. Kelvin Stevens Jr. took second on rings with a 9.300 and will join Gill at state.

Senior Jake Anderson and Milazzo tied for third on vault with an 8.650 and both will go to state in that event.

Stevens Jr. took third on parallel bars with a 9.150 and earned a state bid. Cripe was third on high bar with an 8.300 and Gill was fifth on high bar with an 8.100. Both earned state berths.
