York High School grads launch Alumni Assn.

First-ever York Alumni Assn. elects officers

All alumni offered free membership to receive benefits

Following some 18 months of exploratory discussions by an interim board and committees, the first York Community High School Alumni Association (YCHSAA) Board of Directors was elected.

Serving two-year terms areJay Webb (’75), President; Kathy Wilson (‘65), Vice President; Trish Harper (’62), Membership; Linda BoeskeAldis (‘74), Treasurer; and Debbie Linhart (’67), Secretary. Committee Chairs are: Mark Mulliner (’76), Community Outreach; Kurt Fowich (’63), Senior Alumni Outreach; Sharon O’Brien (’76), York Centennial Celebration; and Kristen Yasz (’05), Social Events.

The group came together on the heels of the successful York Distinguished Alumni Program (YDAP), now in its fifth year, and the forthcoming 100th Anniversary of York Community High School, established in 1918. The Board and committee membersrepresent classes ranging from 1958 to 2005.Much of the groundwork, such as a mission statement and governing documents, were put into place by the YCHSAA committees, culminating in the election of the new Board in May of 2017.

   The mission of the York Community High School Alumni Association (YCHSAA) is to serve and support the school and its alumni by fostering and enhancing communication and camaraderie among alumni; maintaining a strongrelationship between the school and its alumni; preserving, promoting, and celebrating the history, traditions, and memories of York; and contributing to the growth and welfare of York and its students.​

YCHSAA is free to join and open to all those who attended York. Benefits include being able to participate in Association events and receiving a twice-yearly electronic newsletter featuring alumni activities and current York High School updates.

Along with forming the Alumni Association, this group has committed to assisting York Community High School in the planning of the York Centennial Celebration in 2018.
