A memorial celebration is planned to honor legendary York Boys Cross Country coach Joe Newton on Saturday, Jan. 27 beginning at 2 p.m. in the York Commons at York Community High School, 355 W. St. Charles Rd. Mr. Newton died in the early morning of Dec. 9 in Arizona. He was 87 when he retired at the conclusion of the 2016 cross country season following 60 years of coaching. A celebration of his coaching career was held at York High School on Nov. 6, 2016.
