Police Reports

Area Police Departments recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Addison

Dec. 7

Mark R. Jankiewicz, 49, of Addison, was charged with theft in the 900 block of Stonehedge Drive at around 8:20 p.m. Police said Jankiewicz took equipment from Phase 2 without permission or authority.

Dec. 5

Isaish K. Smith, 21, of Schaumburg, was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle in the 200 block of W. Lake at around 10:02 p.m. Police said Smith took a victim’s vehicle from the victim’s driveway without permission or authority.

Dec. 3

Miguel A. Alvarado, 33, of Addison, was charged with DUI and issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic accident near Fullerton and Ardmore at around 3:46 a.m.

Police said Gabriel Armenta, 39, of Addison, had a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department for driving while license revoked.

Juan J. Popoca, 33, of Addison, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis in the 200 block of N. Mill Road at around 8:44 p.m.

Dec. 2

Police said Luis H. Garcia-Salazar, 20, of Villa Park, had a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department for no valid driver’s license. He was additionally charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 200 block of W. Lake at around 1:40 a.m.

A 49-year-old Addison woman was charged with domestic battery in the 400 block of Comstock Avenue at around 1:39 p.m. Police said the suspect threw a remote control at the victim and attacked him, leaving scratch marks on his back and arms.

Dec. 1

Police said Joseph P. Kane IV, 38, of Maywood, had a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department for unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Villa Park

Dec. 2

Alyssa K. Simental, 25, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, endangering the life of a child, failure to give information, failure to secure a child in a child restraint, operating a vehicle with unsafe equipment and no insurance in the 700 block of N. Villa at around 10:01 p.m.

Dec. 1

Christian M. Chavez, 21, of Lombard, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia near Addison and Sunset at around 11:49 a.m.

Albert D. Reese, 31, of Bellwood, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance near Ardmore and Roosevelt at around 11:43 p.m.

Nov. 30-Dec. 1

Retail theft was reported at a music store. Police said that between 1:45 p.m. Nov. 30 and 10:58 a.m. Dec. 1, an unknown suspect stole an acoustic guitar from the store display.

Nov. 30

Sergio E. Avila, 52, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, no valid driver’s license, operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device and no insurance near North and Villa at around 6:56 p.m.

Nov. 29

Linda L. Diebold, 52, of Lombard, was charged with criminal trespass to property in the 200 block of E. Plymouth at around 4:03 p.m. On Nov. 28, Diebold also was charged with criminal trespass to a residence/resisting a police officer at around 2:14 a.m., and charged with criminal trespass to property/violation of bail bond at around 4:39 a.m.

A 27-year-old Villa Park man was charged with two counts of domestic battery on two separate occasions in the 400 block of N. Michigan. The first incident took place at around 6:19 a.m. Nov. 8, with the original complainant and arrest warrant issued on Nov. 29. The second incident occurred at around 8:35 p.m. Nov. 29.

Theft was reported at a store at around2:20 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect stole a wallet from a purse that was momentarily left unattended in a shopping cart.

Nov. 28

Theft was reported in the 700 block of W. Merle at around12:50 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect opened a package delivered to the residence and stole part of the order.

Nov. 27

Ghislaine Ramos, 25, of Lombard, was issued a citation for unlawful possession of cannabis in the 100 block of E. Roosevelt at around 11:21 p.m.

A female juvenile from Villa Park was charged with disorderly conduct/trespassing in the 200 block of W. Vermont at around 3:31 p.m.

Burglary was reported in the 300 block of N. Yale at around5:49 a.m. Police said than an unknown suspect stole approximately $10 in change and removed a purse, carrying bag and a wallet from a vehicle parked in the parking lot.

Nov. 26-Nov. 27

A stolen vehicle was reported in the 100 block of N. Myrtle. Police said that between 8 p.m. Nov. 26 and 6:30 a.m. Nov. 27, an unknown suspect stole a vehicle parked unsecured in the driveway with the keys left in the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in Elmhurst.

Nov. 26

Ricky D. Richeson, 37, of Bellwood, was charged with DUI, using an electronic communication device while operating a vehicle and improper lane usage near St. Charles and Howard at around 2 a.m. 

Nov. 25-Nov. 27

Seven incidents of unknown suspects entering unsecured vehicles were reported between the above dates. Two of the incidents occurred in the 200 block of E. Oak. In the first incident, which took place between 9 p.m. Nov. 26 and 9 a.m. Nov. 27, police said unknown suspects entered a vehicle parked in the driveway and rummaged through the contents of the glove box and center console.  Nothing appeared to be missing. In the second incident, which took place between 6 p.m. Nov. 25 and 8 a.m. Nov. 27, police said unknown suspects entered a vehicle parked in the driveway and rummaged through the contents of the center console left on the passenger seat and floor of the vehicle. Nothing appeared to be missing.

In a third incident, which took place in the 100 block of W. Division, police said that between Nov. 26 and Nov. 27, an unknown suspect entered a vehicle parked in the driveway, rummaged through the contents of the glovebox and center console and stole a book bag, business card a wallet, sunglasses and $2 in loose change.

In the fourth incident, which occurred in the 700 block of W. Plymouth, police said that between 7 p.m. Nov. 26 and 7:30 a.m. Nov. 27, unknown suspects entered a vehicle parked in the driveway and rummaged through the contents of the glove box and center console.  Nothing was taken from the vehicles; however a blue Trek bicycle was taken from the driveway.

In the fifth incident, which occurred in the 200 block of N. Princeton, police said that between 10 p.m. Nov. 26 and 7 a.m. Nov. 27, unknown suspects entered a vehicle parked in the driveway and rummaged through the contents of the glove box and center console.  Nothing appeared to be missing.

The sixth and seventh incidents were reported in the 100 block of N. Princeton. In the sixth incident, which took place between 4 p.m. Nov. 26 and 7 a.m. Nov. 27, police said unknown suspects entered 2 vehicles parked in the driveway.  The glove box and center console were emptied in both vehicles and the contents strewn about the vehicles, with $2 in cash taken from one of the vehicles. In the seventh incident, which occurred between 8 p.m. Nov. 26, and 7 a.m. Nov. 27, police said unknown suspects entered a vehicle parked in the driveway emptying the contents of the glove box and center console inside the vehicle also taking approximately $15.

Update on these incidents

Villa Park police announced last week that suspects associated with these aforementioned incidents have been arrested and are in custody.
