Police investigate several burglaries in south Elmhurst

According to a release issued by Police Chief Michael R. Ruth, Elmhurst Police have been investigating a group of burglaries that reportedly took place on Saturday, Nov. 25 between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

The offender(s) entered unsecured doors into residential homes and removed wallets and purses, the release said. The incident occurred while the residents were asleep. Incidents took place at the following locations:

400 block of Prairie

400 block of Poplar

200 block of South Street (attempt)

Ruth said police have increased patrols and personnel to the area. The Police Department reminds residents to make sure all doors are locked and motion sensor lights are activated, when retiring for the evening. Also residents are asked to immediately call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity.
