Willowbrook boys golf team sends two to sectional round

Warriors girls volleyball team wins two matches at Elk Grove tournament.

Following up a strong showing at the recent West Suburban Conference Gold Division meet, the Willowbrook boys golf team turned in another good performance at the recent Class 3A Hinsdale South regional.

The Warriors qualified two golfers for sectional play at the regional held at par-72 Prairie Bluff Golf Club.

Joey Guthrie shot a 77 and Taylor Sarovich shot 80 to become the first Willowbrook boys golfers to advance to the sectional round since Doug Miceli did it in 2010.

Sophomore Logan Rattana narrowly missed making it into the playoff for the final qualifying spot, shooting an 83.

As a team, the Warriors fired another season low, finishing with a 324. The Warriors took fifth place in the regional field. The top three teams advanced to the sectional.

Buddy Martens, a senior, added an 84 for the Warriors.

Guthrie and Sarovich advanced to the Class 3A sectional that was contested earlier this week at Glendale Lakes Golf Club.

Willowbrook girls golf

The Willowbrook girls golf team finished ninth at the recent Class AA Nazareth Academy regional held at The Links of Carillon Golf Club. The Warriors had no individual sectional qualifiers.

The Willowbrook girls volleyball team went 2-3 at the recent Elk Grove Invitational.

The Warriors lost 25-19, 25-13 to Chicago Resurrection, defeated Elk Grove 23-25, 25-20, 25-10, lost to Crystal Lake South 25-9, 25-14, defeated Southland College Prep 25-9, 25-11 and lost to De La Salle 25-20, 25-17.

In the Resurrection match, Hanna Konrath had one kill, one ace and three digs. Charlotte Dewyer and three kills, two blocks and two digs. Katie Pettinger had three assists and five digs. Taylor Balsitis had one block, one assist and three digs. Peyton Ceh had one kill and one assist to go with 12 digs. Caliegh Tuma had one kill, one block and one dig. Katelyn McCann had three kills and six digs. Marissa Marcello had one ace, two assists and six digs. Jessica Ragucci had one block.

Against Elk Grove, Konrath had one kill, one ace and four digs. Dewyer had seven kills and two assists. Pettinger had eight assists and four digs. Balsitis had seven kills, two blocks, one ace and two digs. Ceh had three kills, two aces, two assists and 12 digs. Jenna Krenzel had one assist and two digs. Tuma had three kills and one dig. Kaitlyn Karcz had three kills. McCann had one block and eight digs. Emma Barrington had four kill and one block. Marcello had one kill, one ace, 12 assists and two digs. Ragucci had two kills and two digs.

In the Crystal Lake South contest, Konrath had six digs, while Dewyer had one dig. Pettinger had three assists and two digs, while Balsitis had three kills and one block. Ceh had one kill and six digs. Krenzel had two digs, while Grace Reckamp had one assist. Isabella Pennebaker had one kill. Tuma had one block. Karcz had one kill, while McCann had one kill, one block and seven digs. Barrington had one kill and one block. Marcello had two kills and eight assists, while Ragucci had two kills and one block.

In the win against Southland, Konrath had one kill, nine aces and two digs. Dewyer had seven kills. Pettinger had five assists and three digs. Balsitis had four kills, one ace and one assist. Ceh had one kill, two aces and three digs. Reckamp had four assists and one dig. Pennebaker had one kill. Tuma has one kill and one dig. Karcz had three kills. McCann had one kill and one ace. Barrington had two kills, while Marcello had two aces and eight assists.

Konrath had six digs against De La Salle. Pettinger had seven assists. Balsitis had two kills and one ace. Ceh had four kills and four digs. Tuma had one assist. Karcz had two kills. McCann had three kills, one ace and four digs. Barrington had one kill and one block. Marcello had one kill, seven assists and one dig. Ragucci had three kills and one assist.

Willowbrook was 9-15 overall after the Elk Grove tournament.
