Children left unattended in backseat of car, police say

Child endangerment was reported on Oct. 1, when police said an officer observed a running vehicle parked in a loading zone in the 900 block of S. York with its hazard lights on, but with no occupants in the front seats. There were two young children left unattended in the back seat. An investigation is pending.

Family of three charged with possession of drugs, equipment

On Sept. 29, police said that subsequent to the execution of a search warrant in the 300 block of W. Fremont on Sept. 28, three suspects, all from Elmhurst, were taken into custody: John Fontano Sr., 57; Margaret Fontano, 56; and John Fontano Jr., 24. Fontano Sr. was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment. Fontano Jr. was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and sale or possession of hypodermic syringes or needles. Margaret Fontano was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Two citizens arrested on weapons, drug charges

Police said that subsequent to the execution of a search warrant in the 800 block of N. Indiana on Sept. 29, three suspects, all from Elmhurst, were taken into custody on weapons and drug charges. Charmaine Annoreno, 46, was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and firearm ammunition and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Marissa Bender, 21, was charged with delivery or manufacture of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment. Samuel O’Laughlin was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and firearm ammunition, and delivery or manufacture of cannabis and possession of drug equipment.

Subject tries to purchase vehicle using victim’s personal information

On Sept. 25, a victim in the 400 block of N. Highview Ave. told police at around 11:03 a.m. that he was advised by LifeLock that a company called “Gateway One” out of Anaheim, Calif., attempted to purchase a vehicle using his personal identifying information. The attempt was made at a car dealership in Georgia and it was learned an unknown suspect applied for the loan online.
