IC Catholic Prep football team defeats Glenbard South.

Knights earn share of Division title with victory

The IC Catholic Prep football team defeated Glenbard South 51-14 in a battle of unbeaten Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division teams.

The Knights moved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in MSC Blue play. IC Catholic Prep clinched no worse of a share of the conference title. Glenbard South fell to 5-3 and 3-1. Riverside-Brookfield (7-1) also has a 3-1 conference record.

In the win against Glenbard South, IC Catholic Prep quarterback CJ West completed 15 of 21 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns.

The Knights also racked up 165 rushing yards on 31 carries. Lazerick Eatman ran 12 times for 76 yards and a touchdown, while West ran 10 times for 26 yards and scored two touchdowns. Kyle Franklin ran eight times for 47 yards and Tommy Ryan had a carry for 16 yards.

Six different IC Catholic Prep receivers caught passes from West. Khali Saunders had three catches for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Eatman caught 3 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 61-yard catch, while Saunders had a 41-yard catch.

Jacob Lytton caught two passes for 40 yards. Kevin Cooke had a catch for 17 yards, while Sean Hipskind had three catches for 43 yards. Khalil Saunders made three catches for 23 yards.

IC Catholic Prep racked up 466 yards of total offense against the conference co-leader.

On defense, Kemon Reese led the way with seven tackles. Michael Johnson and Kevin Cooke each had six tackles.

The Knights registered six quarterback sacks on the night. Johnson and Ricky Mysliwiec each had two sacks, while Reese and Jack Enright each had one sack.

Eatman had an interception and returned it 10 yards. Daniel Gibbons and Hipskind each had a pass deflection, while Ryan Melek and Kevin Akins each had a fumble recovery. Akins returned his fumble 22 yards. Reese also had a forced fumble.

Khalil Saunders also had three 2-point rushing conversions.

IC Catholic Prep, the defending Class 3A state champions, close out the regular season in Week 9 against Fenton. A win gives the Knights the MSC Blue title outright.
