Elmhurst swim team successful at regionals

First time in 26 years as host pool

The Elmhurst Swim Team (EST) was selected for the first time in it’s 26 years as 1 of 6 sites to host the 2017 Summer Regional Swim Championships. EST co-hosted with the West Chicago Sharks swim team on July 21-23rd at the York High School Pool.

More than 700 swimmers from 25 different swim clubs throughout the state of Illinois participated. EST had 21 qualified swimmers at the meet.

These 21 swimmers made the awards podium in 42 events for a total of 51 medals. EST had Ben Harrington, age 12, make the top of the awards podium with a state qualifying time in the 200 freestyle as well as the 100 backstroke. Brendan Wagner 12, came in first in the 100 free and the 200 fly.

The 21 Elmhurst Swim Team participants were: Lauren Jones 12, Brigid Wagner 12, Grace Hudson 11, Chris Bajda 12, Delaney Tase 16, Jeremy Harrington 12, Kaya Kurcz 10, Carter Fask 11, Lindsey Locke 10, Ben Harrington 14, Moleigh Waldherr 15, Kanah Hori 17, Brendan Wagner 16, Xander Hall 15, Daniel Bajda 15, Samantha Harrington 16, Amy Feltz 18, Marissa Logan 17, Anthony Bauer 14, Kamil Gorski 17 and Caroline Gorski 12.
