Timothy Christian girls track team takes second at Luther North

Stoll wins three gold medals; Olivia Hoekstra wins 400.

The Timothy Christian girls track team took second at the recent Walther Christian Invitational held at Luther North.

Timothy finished with 116 points. St. Francis won the meet with 166 points.

Timothy won the 3,200 relay in 11:11.83 with Valerie Hoekstra, Annika Ward, Jill Forgac and Rachel Stoll.

Tyra Hopson took fourth in the discus with a throw of 68-8.

Timothy’s 400 relay team took second with a time of 53.55. That team included Olivia Hoekstra, Gabi Silvia, Priscilla Nartey and Alyse Schnurr.

Ruth Hruska-Kelley was fifth in the high jump at 4-6 and right behind her in sixth place was Maggie Troxel at 4-4.

Timothy also fared well in the 100 hurdles where Schnurr was second at 18.59, Troxel third at 19.69 and Abigail Groenewold fourth at 21.10.

Hope Clark won the 3,200 run with a time of 12:29.25. Nartey was seventh in the 100 with a time of 14.49.

Stoll won the 800 with a time of 2:41.67. Marissa Silvia was sixth in the 800 at 3:07.43.

Timothy’s 800 relay team took second with Schnurr, Nartey, Gabi Silvia and Valerie Hoekstra running 2:00.09.

Olivia Hoekstra won the 400 with a time of 1:00.94. Forgac was fifth at 1:07.88.

In the 300 low hurdles, Schnurr took second at 54.41. Groenewold was fourth at 58.66 and Troxel was fifth at 1:02.67.

In the 1,600, Clark was third at 6:09.28. Ward was sixth with a time of 6:36.04. Gabi Silvia was sixth in the 200 with a time of 30.60.

Timothy won the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:28.91. That team included Stoll, Valerie Hoekstra, Forgac and Olivia Hoekstra. They won the race by nearly 20 seconds.

“It was a beautiful day and we had some great performances,” said Timothy coach Kevin Hackert.

Hackert was impressed with Olivia Hoekstra’s 400 win in 1:00.94 and Schnurr’s first race in the 300 low hurdles.

Hackert also cited Stoll’s performance at the meet. She brought home a total of three gold medals, winning the 800 run and running on the winning 3,200 and 1,600 relay teams.
