Police Reports

Area Police Departments recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Addison

May 25

• Carlos Hernandez, 18, of Glendale Heights, was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 500 block of N. Lincoln Ave. at around 11:58 p.m.

• Police said Kayla K. Russell, 18, of Addison, had a warrant out of the Kankakee Sheriff’s Department for armed robbery.

• A 20-year-old Bellwood man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 700 block of Addison Road at around 12:26 p.m. Police said the suspect struck the victim on the face and eye with his fist.

May 24

Domenico A. Aghakhani, 24, of Addison, was issued citations for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give aid or information and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident near Jefferson and Fullerton at around 6:42 p.m.

May 23

A 58-year-old Addison man was charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest/assault in the 100 block of S. Mill Road at around 1:51 p.m. Police said the suspect pushed a victim and stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a power drill. The suspect reportedly refused to obey an officer’s commands and resisted arrest.

May 22

Laura Esparza, 18, of Streamwood, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia near Addison and Byron at around 7:40 p.m.

May 21

• Police said Juan A. Rodriguez, 21, of Addison, had an original warrant out of the Addison Police Department for possession of a controlled substance, and a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department for residential burglary.

• Vijayanand Venkatachalam, 33, of Addison, was charged with DUI and improper passing subsequent to a traffic stop near Pioneer and Wesley at around 12:47i a.m.

May 20

• Police said an officer responded to the Bloomingdale Police Department at around 11:20 a.m. to transport Andy C. Claudio, 53, of Villa Park, who had an original warrant out of the Addison Police Department for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance.

• Giuseppe Favia, 62, of Addison, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and First at around 2:03 a.m.

• A 29-year-old Schaumburg man was charged with domestic battery at around 9:41 p.m. Police said the suspect choked the victim and struck her on the head multiple times.

• Marta J. Ortiz, 38, of Batavia, was charged with resisting arrest and criminal trespassing to land in the 2200 block of W. Lake St. at around 11:40 p.m. Police said Ortiz returned to a restaurant after receiving prior notice that such entry was forbidden. She pulled away from officers in an attempt to resist arrest, according to police.

May 19

Joshua E. Podzimek, 24, of Hoffman Estates, was charged with DUI and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Fullerton and Stewart at around 11:57 p.m.

Villa Park

May 20

• Byron C. Palmer, 28, of Lombard, was charged with transportation of possession of open alcohol, driving while license revoked, driving with expired plates and no insurance near Kramer and North at around 9:46 p.m.

• Armed robbery was reported at a convenience store on Villa Avenue at around 5:09 a.m. Police said two unknown armed suspects stole instant lottery tickets and emptied the cash drawer of the cash register. The store clerk was battered by the suspects before they exited the store.

May 19

• Kevin L. Bonner, 33, of Villa Park, was charged with aggravated battery at around 8 a.m. May 16. The original complaint and arrest warrant was issued on May 19.

• Danielle M. Sumang, 18, of Villa Park, was charged with two counts of DUI, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the 700 block of S. Villa at around 5:37 a.m.

• A male juvenile from Villa Park was charged with disorderly conduct and a curfew violation near St. Charles and Illinois at around 1:31 a.m.

May 18

Angelina T. Biedron, 26, and Tiffany A. Najeski, 20, both of Villa Park, were charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia at North Terrace Park at around 9:48 p.m.

May 17-May 18

Criminal damage was reported in the 300 block of E. Vermont. Police said that between 10 p.m. May 17 and 6:30 a.m. May 18, an unknown suspect slashed two tires on a vehicle parked in a driveway.

May 17

• A 22-year-old Villa Park man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 400 block of W. Division at around 11:51 p.m.

• A female juvenile from Villa Park was charged with disorderly conduct at Lions Park at around 4:59 p.m.

May 14-May 15

Burglary was reported in the 300 block of S. Harvard. Police said that between 3 p.m. May 14 and 7:17 a.m. May 15, an unknown suspect entered an unsecured vehicle parked in a driveway and stole cash, sunglasses and CDs.

May 14

• Derrick W. Brown, 40, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI and three counts of endangering the life of a child in the 600 block of S. Villa Ave. at around 7:56 p.m.

• Susan A. Lomo, 55, of Villa Park, was charged with two counts of DUI, improper lane usage and no insurance in the 100 block of E. North Ave. at around 5:07 p.m.
