Police Reports

Area Police Departments recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Addison

May 2

Ashwani K. Ghani, 41, of Addison, was issued a citation for criminal trespass to property in the 1-100 block of Official Road at around 8:28 a.m. Police said Ghani was found sleeping in a vehicle on private property.

Villa Park

April 29

• Walter M. Washlow, 60, of Addison, was charged with retail theft at a store at around 6:37 p.m.

• A male juvenile from Lombard was charged with criminal damage to property in the 100 block of W. North Ave. at around 5:47 a.m.

April 28

• Raymond A. Bunker, 54, of Villa Park, was charged with public indecency in the 300 block of N. Illinois at around 4:44 p.m. March 17. The original complaint and arrest warrant was issued April 28.

• Janet Zamora, 31, of Bloomingdale, was charged with retail theft at a store at around 4:15 p.m.

• Retail theft was reported at a store. Police said that between 9:35 and 10:07 p.m., an unknown male suspect left the store with two hand baskets filled with hygiene products without paying for the items.

April 27

• Gregory T. Jerger, 18, of Homer Glen, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage near Route 83 and Riverside at around 7:54 a.m.

• Theft was reported at a music store at around 11:10 a.m. Police said an unknown suspect removed a guitar from the display and left the store without paying for it.

• Theft was reported in the 400 block of W. Division at around 10:05 a.m. Police said an unknown suspect stole cash from an apartment.

April 26

• Jonovan Brown, 26, of Broadview, was charged with violation of an order of protection in the 100 block of E. Maple between 4 p.m. April 25 and 9 a.m. April 26. The original complaint and arrest warrant was issued April 26.

• A female juvenile from Villa Park was charged with bullying at a high school at around 11:40 a.m.

April 25

• Juan C. Diaz, 23, of Villa Park, was charged with reckless driving, speeding and disobeying a stop sign near St. Charles and Harvard at around 2:52 p.m.

• Criminal damage was reported in a train lot between 7:15 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect stole the gas cap from a vehicle that was parked in the lot.

April 24

• Marcel T. Barnard, 26, of Wheeling, was charged with two counts of DUI in the 300 block of W. St. Charles at around 3:56 p.m.

• Theft was reported at a store at around 6 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect stole a cell phone that had been left unsecured.

• Theft was reported in the 300 block of N. Westmore at around 5:28 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect stole a set of rims from a 1993 Ford Mustang from a garage.

April 23-April 24

Criminal damage was reported in the 700 block of W. Roy. Police said that between 12:30 p.m. April 23 and 4:06 a.m. April 24, an unknown suspect damaged a coin-operated dryer in the laundry room.

April 23

• Renee Santiago-Malave, 38, of Glendale Heights, was charged with two counts of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid driver’s license, improper lane usage, improper right turn at an intersection, failure to signal when required and no headlights when required near North and Lincoln at around 2:09 a.m.

• A 22-year-old Villa Park man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of N. Princeton at around 12:02 a.m.

April 22

Edwardo Lopez-Contreras, 24, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to signal when turning near North and Ardmore at around 1:22 a.m.

April 21-April 24

Criminal damage was reported in the 400 block of N. Villa. Police said that between 4:30 p.m. April 21 and 7:15 a.m. April 24, an unknown damaged the rear driver’s side window on a bus parked in the lot.
