Police have man in custody for Shell station robbery

Elmhurst police are investigating a robbery which occurred at the Shell Gas Station at 103 W. Third Street on May 3, 2017, at 3:15 a.m.

A white/male in his 30’s, wearing a White Sox jacket, entered the Shell Gas Station and demanded money from the cashier.  The offender took an undetermined amount of U.S. Currency and fled from the scene on foot.  A short time later, the suspect was taken into custody in the 900 block of Hillcrest and transported to Elmhurst police headquarters. Proceeds from the robbery were recovered from the suspect.

The identity of the suspect in police custody is not being released as formal charges are pending, and the case remains under active investigation at this time.
