Police arrest local man for attempted robbery, felony theft

Elmhurst Police have charged a local man for Felony Theft which occurred at the Shell Gas Station at 103 W. Third Street on May 3, 2017, at 3:15 a.m. and attempted robbery of the 7- Eleven Store at 572 S. York Rd. A white/male in his 40’s, wearing a White Sox jacket, entered the Shell Gas Station and demanded money from the cashier. The offender took an undetermined amount of U.S. Currency and fled from the scene on foot. A short time later, the suspect was taken into custody in the 900 block of Hillcrest and transported to Elmhurst police headquarters. The proceeds from the theft were recovered from the suspect. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the 7-Eleven at 572 S. York Rd. earlier in the night and attempted to rob the store clerk by implying that he had a gun, but was not successful. Joseph A.
