Poppy vase project at the Abbey perfect for beginners

Enjoy a Summer Art Studio experience with Elmhurst Park District’s Poppy Vase class on Friday, June 9 from 9-11:30 a.m. Enjoy hand painting this poppy vase. The poppies are silk screened on before class so you will be filling them in with color. If you can color in a coloring book, you can do this project. It will make a lovely vase to display flowers in or stand alone. Your vase will be taken to be fired and available to pick up at The Abbey one week after class. Fee is $34 residents/$39 non-residents. Ages 18 and up. For more information or to register, please contact The Abbey at (630) 993-8193 or visit epd.org.

Shipshewana your way to quilts and more…

Join Elmhurst Park District on Wednesday, June 21 as we head to Shipshewana, Indiana for the Quilt Festival, Flea Market, Downtown or all three. Make the most of your time by doing what you want to do. Stop by the Quilt Show, featuring approximately 200 quilts (requires a separate admission fee). Visit the Flea Market, with vendors selling everything from pillowcases to produce. Downtown you’ll find quaint shops, buggy rides and the popular Blue Gate Restaurant and Bakery. The bus will drop off and pick up at each location. There will be significant walking and standing on this trip. Fee is $49 for residents and $54 for non-residents and includes transportation only; quilt show, lunch and any purchases are on your own.

We will depart from The Abbey at 8:30 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. This is a cooperative trip with the Glen Ellyn Park District. Deadline to register is June 2. For more information or to register, please call (630) 993-8900 or visit epd.org.
