IC Catholic Prep girls soccer team piles up the wins

Knights boys and girls track teams fare well at Chicago Christian.

The IC Catholic Prep girls soccer team went on a goal-scoring binge recently.

The Knights scored 19 goals in three victories.

In a 6-3 Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division win against Glenbard South, Olivia Hurt, Sophie Zanoni, Bella Leslie, Tessa Langan, Grace Fuller and Demitra DelFiacco each had a goal. Abi Wagner had two assists, while Langan and Hurt each had one assist.

IC Catholic Prep improved to 3-3 in MSC Blue play.

In a 6-3 MSC crossover win against St. Edward, Langan scored four goals, while Hurt had two. Hurt also had three assists, while Langan had two assists. Del Fiacco had one assist.

In a 7-0 MSC crossover win against Guerin Prep, Langan had two goals, while Fuller, Leslie, Katie Hendricks, Caitlin Curtin and Kaitlyn Grady each had one goal.

Zanoni had three assists, while Hurt, Leslie, Tess Reardon and Del Fiacco each had one assist.

The three wins moved the Knights to 15-5 overall.

IC Catholic Prep boys track

IC Catholic Prep boys track and field standout Jordan Rowell was named the outstanding athlete of the meet for the fourth year in a row at the 29th annual Chicago Christian Invitational.

The Knights finished third as a team with 93 points.

The Knights were second in the 3,200 relay at 9:06.61. The Knights were third in the 400 relay at 46.48.

Eric James was seventh in the 3,200 run in 11:11.28.

Rowell won the 100 dash in 11.15. Lazerick Eatman was eighth at 11.92. Pat Shannon was sixth in the 800 at 2:10.24, while Chuck Hipskind was seventh at 2:10.60.

The Knights were second in the 800 relay at 1:35.74. Rowell took second in the 400 at 50.20.

Sean Hipskind was seventh in the 300 hurdles at 47.45. Rowell won the 200 in 22.88, while Luke Ricobene was second at 23.33. The Knights were second in the 1,600 relay at 3:41.90.

Tim McCann was fourth in the discus at 116-3 1/2. Rowell won the long jump in 22-0 1/2. Robbie Whelan was eighth at 18-7. Kris Askew was fourth in the triple jump at 38-10, while Sean Hipskind was fifth at 38-6 1/2.

Dan McCann was third in the shot put at 38-8. Ryan Wojtalewicz was eighth in the high jump at 5-0.

IC Catholic Prep girls track

The IC Catholic Prep girls track team was seventh at the Chicago Christian Invitational.

The Knights took seventh in the 3,200 relay at 12:27.93. The Knights were sixth in the 400 relay at 54.09.

Olivia Slavin was sixth in the 100 hurdles at 17.90. The Knights were eighth in the 1,600 relay at 4:51.82.

Carly Holden was ninth in the discus at 69-5.

Jaida Smith won the long jump in 16-0. Lauren Jaeger was ninth at 14-0. Smith also won the triple jump in 34-6, while Hannah Johnson was fourth at 32-6. Gabi Zanoni was sixth in the shot put at 28-8. Holden was eighth at 27-10.

Mia Valenzuela was fourth in the high jump at 4-8.

IC Catholic Prep softball

The IC Catholic Prep softball team scored a 13-3 Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division win against Illiana Christian in a game played indoors at The Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont.

The Knights scored seven runs in the first inning and two more in the second to pull away. IC Catholic Prep had nine hits. The Knights moved to 12-8 overall and 4-3 in MSC Blue play.
