IC Catholic Prep girls soccer team opens postseason with a win

Knights baseball team upends Glenbard South.

The IC Catholic Prep girls soccer team scored a recent 4-1 non-conference win over De La Salle.

Grace Fuller, Katie Hendricks, Abi Wagner and Olivia Hurt each had a goal. Kaitlyn Grady, Tessa Langan and Demitri DelFiaco each had an assist. The Knights moved to 16-5 with the win.

IC Catholic Prep then opened up Class 1A regional play with a 10-0 win over Chicago Wells in the semifinals of the IC Catholic Prep regional.

The IC Catholic Prep scored a recent 2-1 Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division win against Glenbard South.

IC Catholic Prep had only three hits in the game but limited Glenbard South to a single hit. The Knights scored a run in the first inning and one in the third.

Matt Sutton went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. John Hoffman drew three walks. Brendan Russ had a hit and Austin Reed had an RBI. Hoffman and Sutton each had stolen bases.

Russ was the winning pitcher. He threw seven innings, allowing only one run on one hit, while striking out four and walking three.

The Knights then lost the second game of the series to Glenbard South by a 13-2 count in five innings. IC Catholic Prep led 2-0 early, but Glenbard South blew the game open with 10 runs in the fourth inning.

The Knights had only two hits, a double by CJ West and a single by Russ, who also had both of IC Catholic Prep’s RBIs. Austin Reed took the loss. He struck out five in three innings.

IC Catholic Prep also lost 7-3 to Wheaton Warrenville-South in non-conference action.

The Knights had seven hits in the contest and tied the game at 3-3 after a three-run fourth inning.

Michael Liska went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Jack Enright had a hit. Austin Reed was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Hoffman was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Amari Reed went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, while Joey Salvi was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Enright doubled in the game.

West, Hoffman and Enright pitched for the Knights and gave up only two earned runs on seven hits.

The loss to Wheaton-Warrenville South put IC Catholic Prep at 12-17 overall.
