Fenton’s Torres competes at state gymnastics

Matuszewski third in 100 dash at York sectional.

Fenton boys gymnast Ricardo Torres recently competed in the IHSA state finals meet at Hinsdale Central.

Torres finished in 33rd place on the pommel horse with a score of 7.900.

The Fenton girls track team finished 15th at the recent York sectional.

Hanna Matuszewski took third in the 100 dash for the Bison with a time of 12.95. Sarah Mason was 13th in the 200 with a time of 27.46. Cassidy Kelly took 16th in the 800 with a time of 2:29.97.

Jessica McCauley was 19th in the 1,600 with a time of 5:52.71.

Fenton’s 400 relay was 10th with a time of 51.47. That team included Trisha Butz, Stephany Padilla, Matuszewski and Mason.

Fenton also was 12th in the 800 relay with a time of 1:55.16. That team featured Amber Azim, Jezalyn Tapia, Rebecca Millard and Matuszewski.

Fenton’s 1,600 relay was 13th in 4:25.30 with Ashley Lira, Millard, Mackenzie Miller and Cassidy Kelly.

Julianna Krebasch tied for 12th in the high jump at 4-9. Cassidy Feddersen and Katrina Krebasch tied for 11th in the pole vault with marks of 8-3 each.

Mason finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 35-3.

Fenton did not qualify any individuals or relays for this weekend’s state meet.

In earlier action, the Bison competed in the Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division meet. Matuszewski finished fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.15, while Mason was fifth at 13:44.

Mason took third in the 200 at 27.58 and Matuszewski was fourth at 27.72. Cassidy Kelly was fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.13, while Mackenzie Miller was sixth at 1:08.02.

Brianna Aldama was 10th in the 800 at 2:48.10. Jessica McCauley took fifth in the 1,600 in 6:03.27, while Charity Bullis was ninth at 6:26.21.

Bullis was eighth in the 3,200 with a time of 13:42.48.

Kaitlyn Jordan placed sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 20.21, while Jocelyn Ramirez was seventh at 20.68.

Rebecca Millard was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 56.77. Ruth Kirkwood was sixth at 59.18. Fenton took second in the 400 relay with a time of 52.07. Fenton was fourth in the 800 relay at 1:57.15 and fifth in the 1,600 relay at 4:27.12.

Fenton placed second in the 3,200 relay with a time of 10:33.62.

Breana Aponte was eighth in the shot put at 27-0. Jamie Minard was 10th at 25-3. Minard was seventh in the discus with a throw of 81-8. Alize Paz was ninth at 77-5.

Julianna Krebasch was sixth in the high jump at 4-8, while Katrina Krebasch was eighth at 4-4. Katrina Krebasch took second in the pole vault with a height of 8-6. Feddersen was third at 8-0.

Matuszewski took fourth in the long jump at 14-2 1/2. Padilla was ninth at 12-7. Mason took second in the triple jump at 34-7, while Katrina Krebasch was fifth at 31-8.

Fenton took third in the conference at the varsity level with 89 points. The Bison were second at the JV level with 113 points.
