Addison Trail’s Kominowski finishes seventh in state on floor exercise

Willowbrook’s Denwood headed to state track in the discus.

Addison Trail senior Alex Kominowski ended his high-school gymnastics career in style.

Kominowski finished seventh in the state on floor exercise at the recent IHSA state finals meet. Kominowski scored a 9.25 in the finals. He tied for fifth in the preliminary round on floor with a 9.600 score.

Kominowski also took 11th in the state on vault with an 8.900 effort in the finals. He was fifth on vault in the preliminary round with a score of 9.25.

Kominowski also tied for 34th on parallel bars with an 8.45 and tied for 36th in the state on horizontal bar with a 7.70.

Addison Trail girls track

The Addison Trail girls track team has representation at the upcoming Class 3A state finals meet this weekend in Charleston.

Senior Lauren Kroll won the 100 dash with a time of 12.42 and also won the 200 with a time of 25.36.

The Blazers also qualified their 400 relay team for the state meet after taking fourth at the recent Class 3A York sectional with a state-qualifying time of 49.43. That team includes Klea Gjonaj, Katrina Surjancev, Julia Swierzb and Kroll.

Willowbrook girls track

Willowbrook senior Kyla Denwood is headed to the Class 3A state track and field finals after winning the discus sectional title at the recent Class 3A York sectional.

Denwood won the title with a throw of 125-2. Her next closest competitor was 122-11.
