City Centre gets ready to rock with Block to Block Party

Summer is just around the corner, which means the Block to Block Party is back and ready to rock. Elmhurst City Centre invites the community to come out every Wednesday night from 5:30 p.m. -8:30 p.m., starting June 7 for free live music and family-friendly fun throughout the downtown.

Each week, there will be two new and different professional musicians/bands playing at the same time at both of our locations: City Centre Fountain Plaza, and new this year, Elmhurst 255 Plaza at 255 N. York Road. Bringing a blanket or chair is encouraged for the Elmhurst 255 Plaza location, as there is a spacious green lawn to sit and enjoy the music. Certainly, any party without good music or professional cover bands similar to Black Tie Group, for instance, is incomplete.

Moreover, to kick off the Block to Block Party on June 7 at the City Centre Fountain Plaza location is the popular Milwaukee-based band, “Wait For Morning.” This acoustic band, composed of Caleb Widmer, Dan Williams, and Brian Canright, plays a blend of upbeat pop/rock and singer/songwriter vocals covering a variety of today’s radio hits and classics including songs from Ed Sheeran to Tom Petty to Justin Bieber to The Beatles.

As fan favorites of the Block to Block Party in years past, member Caleb Widmer is excited for he and his band to return to Elmhurst because of its energetic atmosphere and prime location.

“Our band loves the energy of Block to Block Party concerts brought by families and businesses coming together to enjoy music,” he said. ” The close proximity of places to eat and drink relative to the live music is a huge plus.”

The second band will perform at Elmhurst 255 Plaza at 255 N. York Road, just a short walk up the street from Fountain Plaza. Performing will be the Chicagoland-based band: “The Next Tuesday Band.” This musical group composed of Stefanie Brinegar, Doug Bardolph, and Ken Modaff plays acoustic versions of hit favorite pop, rock, and country songs. They cover a wide range of artists such as Adele, Carrie Underwood, the Eagles and Billy Joel.

Band member Dough Bardolph is looking forward to kicking off the Block to Block Party on June 7.

“Block to Block has become a traditional part of summers in Elmhurst, something people anticipate and look forward to every year,” he said. “Getting to be part of that, and being the first band to usher in the summer, is certainly something we are excited about.”
