Villa Park Police Department reports

The Villa Park Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

March 24

Anthony L. Castaldo, 21, of Harvard, was charged with reckless driving, loud muffler or lack thereof, prohibited lighting, no insurance and no front registration plate in the 200 block of E. North Ave. at 10:30 p.m.

Melanie J. Harris, 38, of Villa Park, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of W. North Ave. at 1:38 p.m. Dec. 29, 2015. The original complaint and arrest warrant was issued March 24.

Burglary was reported in the 200 block of W. Roosevelt. Police said that between 6:30 and 6:57 p.m., an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s side rear window of a vehicle and stole a black backpack containing a laptop, iPad and headphones.

March 22

A 21-year-old Villa Park man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 600 block of S. Harvard at 7:48 a.m.

Theft was reported in the 1-100 block of E. St. Charles at 5:30 p.m. Police said unknown suspects stole a purse that was inadvertently left in a shopping cart.

Theft was reported in the 300 block of E. Division at 3:45 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect stole a package from the doorstep of a residence.

A stolen vehicle was reported in the 700 block of N. Princeton. Police said that an unknown suspect stole a vehicle that was parked waiting for repairs.

March 21-March 22

Criminal damage was reported in the 900 block of W. North. Police said that between 4 p.m. March 21 and 2:45 a.m. March 22, an unknown suspect scratched the passenger side front quarter panel of a vehicle parked in the lot.

March 21

Criminal damage was reported in the 500 block of N. Ardmore. Police said that between 1 and 1:22 a.m., an unknown suspect threw a brick through a window of an apartment.

A male juvenile from Villa Park was charged with bullying and harassment in the 200 block of W. Vermont at 3:16 p.m.

March 20-March 21

Criminal damage was reported in the 200 block of E. St. Charles. Police said that between 11:35 p.m. March 20 and 5 a.m. March 21, an unknown suspect smashed the front window of a business.

March 20

Theft was reported at Willowbrook High School at 10 a.m. Police said that an unknown suspect stole Beat headphones from a backpack in the boys’ locker room.

March 19

Francisco J. Contreras, 24, of Romeoville, was charged with deceptive practice at 11:05 a.m. Sept. 29, 2016. The original complaint and arrest warrant was issued March 19.

Carlos Vidana, 35, of Mount Prospect, was charged with aggravated driving while license revoked and improper display of license plates near North Avenue and Route 83 at 6:24 p.m.

A 31-year-old Romeoville man was charged with four counts of domestic battery, aggravated assault and unlawful interference with the reporting of domestic violence in the 1-100 block of N. Westmore at 2:20 p.m.

Burglary was reported in the 300 block of N. Westmore at 12 noon. Police said an unknown suspect forced the garage service door open and stole a floor jack.

March 16

A male juvenile from Villa Park was charged with theft at Willowbrook High School at 2:13 p.m.
