Tough week for Timothy Christian baseball team

Allen hits grand-slam home run for Trojans

The Timothy Christian baseball team dropped a recent 5-0 Metro Suburban Conference Red Division game to Chicago Christian.

Chicago Christian scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take control. Brian Schiff had a double for the Trojans. Nick Huisman took the loss. He struck out five in five innings and allowed three hits.

Chicago Christian won the series with a 3-0 victory. Timothy had five singles in the game, two by Noah Marrera. Jimmy Allen took the loss, despite pitching a seven-inning complete game, allowing three hits and striking out 13, while walking one.

Timothy then dropped a 5-1 MSC crossover game to Riverside-Brookfield. The Trojans were stung by eight fielding errors that led to four unearned runs. Joey Davidson went 2-for-3, while Schiff had an RBI. Jonny Strube was the losing pitcher. He struck out four in five innings of work and allowed only one earned run. Timothy had four hits.

Timothy also lost an 18-11 MSC crossover game to Aurora Central Catholic. ACC scored nine of its 18 runs off eight walks and five hit batsmen.

Allen again had a strong game, going 3-for-5 with a grand-slam home run and six RBI. He also had a double. Shawn VanTholen was 3-for-4. Jakob Loerop went 2-for-4. Schiff was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Marrera had two hits and two RBI, while Connor Gwaltney had two hits. Schiff and Gwaltney also had a double each. Josh Anderson took the loss.
