Terra Vista hosts educational seminar on Alzheimer’s, dementia

Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace will be hosting its free monthly educational seminar on Alzheimer’s-dementia. This month’s session is entitled “Alzheimer’s Activities to Stay Engaged: Adding Fun and Meaning to Life” on Wednesday, April 19 at 2 p.m., at 1635 S. Ardmore Ave, Oakbrook Terrace. The presenter will be Terra Vista’s Alzheimer’s expert & certified dementia trainer Natalie McFarland, BSN, RN.

Natalie will explain why activities are beneficial to maintain and enhance cognition and give ideas for various activities that benefit someone with memory loss. She will also provide guidelines to follow when engaging in activities with a loved one with dementia, as well as examples of activities for different stages of Alzheimer’s.

Terra Vista also provides regular caregiver support groups for those in the community caring for family member with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The next support group meeting is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m.
