Magic and mystery come alive with hit musical CATS!

The cast of ECT’s CATS are purrfecting their make-up in advance of the big show!

Elmhurst Children’s Theatre is proud to perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical CATS! Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of the Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer. This show provides magic, mystery and memories for the whole family to enjoy.

Sandburg Middle School sixth-grader, Oliver Roy, is new to ECT. Not only does he enjoy his role in CATS, but he also “really enjoys the new friendships and fun things in and out of rehearsals,” Roy said.

CeCe Lampa, Bryan Middle School eighth-grader, has been involved with ECT since fifth grade. CATS is her eighth production, and she’s excited to play the role of Macavity.

“I enjoy ECT because it’s an accepting group of kids and provides a great environment,” she said.

CATS is under the direction of Emily Leonard, Jennifer McCormick (Music Director) and Tori Marie Cahn (Choreographer).

Leonard is delighted to return to Elmhurst Children’s Theater to direct her 12th production.

“What’s unique about working with the young performers of Elmhurst Children’s Theater is that this is a self-selecting group of extremely hard-working teens and pre-teens, many of whom already have their sights set on a career in the arts, “ Leonard explained. “The results are always impressive and often breathtaking.  This is the kind of work that will inspire younger (and older!) audience members to get excited about theater.”

Performances are 7 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2.p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19. All shows will take place at Bryan Middle School, 111 West Butterfield Road. Tickets are $8 and will be sold at the door.

For group reservations of 12 or more, please contact Susie Lukas at 630-903-6405 or [email protected]. Group sales are limited and require advance registration.
