IC Catholic Prep’s Sutton competes in state 3-point shooting finals

Rowell wins long jump for Knights’ indoor track team.

IC Catholic Prep senior boys basketball player Matt Sutton recently competed in the Class 2A state 3-point shooting finals held at Peoria’s Carver Arena.

Sutton made seven 3-pointers in preliminary round Group 2 and did not advance to the finals. Two competitors in Sutton’s group each made 13 three-pointers.

IC Catholic Prep boys track

The IC Catholic Prep boys track team recently competed in the Jim Spivey Invitational indoor track meet held at Fenton.

Senior Jordan Rowell won the 50-yard dash in 5.6. He took second in the 220 in 27.0.

Eric James was sixth in the mile with a time of 5:30.9. He also took second in the two-mile with a time of 11:37.7.

IC Catholic Prep’s 4-by-880 relay team was sixth with a time of 11:02.2.

Khalil Saunders took fourth in the high jump with a mark of 4-8.

Rowell also won the long jump with a leap of 21-8. The next closest competitor was at 18-4 1/2. Robbie Whelan was fourth at 17-9 1/4.

Sean Hipskind took second in the triple jump at 35-7 1/2.

The Knights finished fourth as a team with 59 points.

York girls water polo

The York girls water polo team split a pair of recent contests. York defeated Morton by an 8-2 score and dropped a 10-2 decision to Naperville North.

York boys gymnastics

The York boys gymnastics team recently placed second at the Vic Lesch invitational. Kelvin Stevens, John Gill, Charlie Cripe and Robeson Gall all placed in their events.

York boys track

The York boys track team recently placed third at its own invitational. York had 97 points. Wheaton-Warrenville South finished with 120 points and won the meet. Prospect was second with 111 points.
