Fenton boys basketball team loses in regional quarterfinals

Sanchez advances in state 3-point shooting contest.

The Fenton boys basketball team saw its season come to a conclusion after a 59-55 loss to Chicago Prosser in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A Fenton regional in Bensenville.

Oak Park-River Forest went on to win the Fenton regional with a 69-56 victory over Chicago St. Patrick.

Fenton was the No. 18 seed in the Class 4A Proviso East sectional. Prosser was the No. 13 seed.

Fenton finished the season with an 8-18 record under first-year coach Chaz Taft. The Bison finished 1-11 in Metro Suburban Conference Blue Division action.

Sanchez advances

Fenton’s Javier Sanchez was one of the top four performers at the Class 4A Fenton regional 3-point shooting contest.

As a result, Sanchez will shoot this week at the Class 4A Proviso East sectional for a chance to advance to the Class 4A state 3-point shooting finals in Peoria.

Fenton boys swimming

The Fenton boys swimming team finished 11th at the recent Glenbrook North sectional.

Fenton took eighth in the medley relay with a time of 1:44.49. That team included Nikolas Fischer, Conrad Oberski, Matthew Janovsky and Lucas Feddersen. All four are sophomores.

Michael Natiello was 18th in the 200 with a time of 2:05.37. Janovsky was 16th in the 200 IM in 2:17.64. Oberski placed 11th in the 50 with a time of 23.20. Feddersen was 15th in the event at 23.67.

Janovsky was 13th in the butterfly with a time of 58.44.

Fischer was 13th in the 100 in 52.04 while Feddersen was 14th at 52.27. Jason Gasior was 19th in the 500. Fenton placed eighth in the 200 relay at 1:36.04 with Oberski, Janovsky, Feddersen and Fischer.

Fischer was ninth in the backstroke at 58.40. Oberski took 11th in the breaststroke at 1:06.08. Fenton was 10th in the 400 relay in 3:50.99 with Maciej Sporna, Jordan Loyola, Matthew McElroy and Natiello.
