York girls basketball team reaches regional final

The York girls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the recent Class 4A Hoffman Estates regional.
York lost 54-30 in the regional final to Geneva.
The Dukes advanced to the regional title game after defeating West Suburban Conference Silver Division foe Glenbard West in the semifinals by a 70-43 count.

Danielle Dennis led the Dukes with 25 points on 10-for-14 shooting. She hit two 3-pointers and had six rebounds. Caylin Rufus had 10 points and nine rebounds to go with four steals. She shot 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Jaclyn Saco had 11 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Jenna Dvorak added six rebounds, while Madison Park had three assists. York hit six 3-pointers in the game.

The Dukes closed out the regular season with a 50-29 win over Addison Trail in the annual WSC crossover game.
Dennis had 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting. She also hit 4 of 4 free-throw attempts and had five steals. Saco had eight points and four steals, while Rufus had seven points. Jenna Dvorak had six points.

Timothy Christian girls basketball player Jordyn Strube will compete in the upcoming Class 2A state 3-point shooting finals in Normal.

Strube advanced to the state finals after finishing in the top four at the recent Class 2A Lisle sectional.

Timothy Christian boys basketball

The Timothy Christian boys basketball team split a pair of games to close out the regular season.

The Trojans finished the regular season at 16-10 overall and 8-4 in Metro Suburban Conference Red Division play.
Timothy scored a recent 73-47 MSC Red win over Guerin Prep. Brandon Orange had 22 points on 11-for-20 shooting to go with 12 rebounds.

Joey Davidson had 19 points and eight rebounds, while Jonny Strube had 16 points, six rebounds, four steals and three blocks. He hit four 3-pointers. Jimmy Allen added five assists, while Ty Merrick had four assists.
The Trojans also lost 64-52 to Elgin St. Edward. Strube led the way with 19 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. He had four 3-pointers.

Orange had 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Davidson had eight points and 11 rebounds. Merrick had six assists.
Timothy opened Class 2A regional play at IC Catholic Prep Tuesday against Westmont. Timothy is the No. 3 seed while Westmont is the No. 5 seed. The winner of that game plays for the regional title Friday night at IC Catholic Prep against either the host Knights, Guerin Prep or Chicago Academy.
