Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage or defacement to property/criminal damage to a vehicle/criminal trespass to property/criminal trespass to a vehicle/damage to city property/damage to property

Feb. 12

Two incidents of criminal damage to property were reported in the 600 block of W. St. Charles between 4:06 and 4:18 a.m. In the first incident, officers responded to the report of two unknown males throwing a car seat at a station wagon. The victim’s vehicle was located with a broken windshield. The car seat was located in a dumpster. An investigation is pending. Subsequent to a criminal damage to property investigation at the above location, a window at a restaurant was also found to be broken.

Disorderly conduct, trespass notice

Feb. 12

Police said that subsequent to a fight in progress at a gas station in the 600 block of W. North Ave. at around 2:47 a.m., officers learned that Christian Jarmon, 22, of Chicago, and Nathaniel Whittington, 23, of Harvey, had fought after a disagreement. According to police, employees advised Jarmon had urinated in public prior to the altercation. Police said that due to conflicting stories and no visible injuries, domestic battery charges were not pursued. Whittington was cited for disorderly conduct/public intoxication and befouling property. Jarmon was cited for public intoxication.

Feb. 15

An officer spoke with a victim in the 100 block of S. Prospect who stated that a suspect battered her. The suspect was spoken to at his residence and when he was told he was under arrest, he allegedly resisted and battered one of the arresting officers. The suspect will be charged with domestic battery, battery and resisting a police officer.

Feb. 12

A 47-year-old Maywood man was charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to a vehicle in the 400 block of W. Butterfield at around 8 a.m. A victim told police she broke up with her boyfriend, the suspect, and upon her arrival to work this morning, he approached her while she was inside her vehicle. Police said the suspect yelled and threatened the victim. He also picked up a piece of loose asphalt and threw it at the passenger side of her vehicle, causing damage. The suspect then punched her in the face, according to police. The suspect is on Cook County electronic monitoring and had left his home without approval.

Feb. 13

Andrii Goshva, 33, of Westmont, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 1:21 a.m.

Feb. 10

Maria Dugo, 20, of Mt. Prospect, was issued a citation for illegal consumption of alcohol in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 12:20 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a bar check, Dugo was found to be under the legal age and admitted to have been drinking at the bar.

Feb. 9

Police said Bradley Jones, 46, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage subsequent to a hit and run near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 12:46 a.m.

Harassment, threats

Feb. 14-Feb. 15

A victim in the 200 block of N. Willow told police at around 10:41 a.m. that her ex-boyfriend has been threatening her and her current boyfriend by text messages. The victim does not believe that suspect would harm her; however, she believes she saw the suspect’s vehicle parked down the street from her residence. At this time no complaints will be signed.

Feb. 9

A victim in the 800 block of W. Washington told police at around 6:45 p.m. that she received a Facebook message from a suspect who accused victim of being a bully and ruining his life. The suspect also said that victim will be to blame when he hangs himself. The Chicago Police Department was contacted to do a well-being check on the suspect.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Feb. 15

Kalomo Rankin, 18, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, operation a vehicle while using an electronic communication device and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Chandler at around 12:29 a.m.

Alyssa Thompson, 21, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and West at around 9:41 p.m. Police said Thompson was a passenger in the vehicle, and officers could smell the odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle. According to police, a search of the vehicle yielded a brown glass cannabis pipe in the front passenger side door, where Thompson was seated.

Feb. 14

Robert James, 36, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a suspicious auto report in the 600 block of N. York at around 8:25 p.m. Police said officers observed James rolling a cannabis blunt, and upon making contact with him, officers smelled a strong odor of cannabis.

Feb. 13

Robert Jaworski, 22, of Darien was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a suspicious vehicle report in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 5:24 p.m.

Hiram Reyes, 25, of Elgin, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Grand at around 1:09 p.m.

Police said that while investigating several threats from the boys locker room at a high school in the 300 block of W. St. Charles at around 9:10 a.m., a suspect was found to be in possession of cannabis. He was cited for possession of cannabis.

Feb. 12

Michael Elgeness, 25, of Lombard, was issued citations for disorderly conduct/public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 200 block of N. Evergreen at around 2:08 a.m. Police said officers responded for the intoxicated suspect, Elgeness, whom they said was knocking on the doors and windows at a residence in the above location. According to police, Elgeness was located and was in possession of a cannabis one-hitter.

Robert Kouzoukas, 33,of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of E. North at around 12:58 a.m. Police said officers had contact with Kouzoukas, who was found to be in possession of cannabis and a glass smoking pipe.

Feb. 11

Brian Donohue, 31, of Schaumburg, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without lights subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Clinton at around 1:14 a.m.

Chansey Garrett, 21, of Willowbrook, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and improper use of an electronic communication device subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Route 83 at around 11:34 p.m.

Josiah McIntosh, 19, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Phillip Grollo, 19, also of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of cannabis in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at around 12:42 a.m. Police said officers observed McIntosh and Grollo to be in possession of cannabis while in their vehicle at the above location.

Feb. 10

Kiana Martinez, 18, of Lombard, was issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding near St. Charles and Kenilworth at around 11:41 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, officers smelled the strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a glass cannabis smoking pipe, according to police.

Latrena Ratliff-Fullilov, 40, of Richton Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of open alcohol near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 12:56 a.m. Police said Ratliff-Fullilov stopped an asked an officer for directions, and upon speaking to her further, she stated that she had been drinking alcohol, smoking cannabis and taking prescription medication.

Jose Santiago, 60, of Merritt Island, Fla., was charged with possession of a controlled substance, aggravated DUI, DUI drugs, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control device near York and Schiller at around 2:56 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a possible DUI following, Santiago was found to be under the influence of drugs and was in possession of suspected heroin.

Feb. 9

Lorenzo Bassette, 32, of Addison, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and driving while license suspended subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and County Line at around 12:07 a.m. Police said an inventory of Bassette’s vehicle yielded a clear plastic bag containing cannabis and a digital scale.

Don Johnson, 20, of Richton Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis (over 10 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, improper use of an electronic communication device, no insurance and no valid registration subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Third at around 7:38 p.m. Scott Sydnor, 21, of Olympia Fields, also was charged with possession of cannabis. Police said following the traffic stop, cannabis and Xanax pills were found in the vehicle, and both suspects were transported to the police department. Once there, police said Johnson stated that most of the cannabis and the Xanax pills were his.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

Feb. 15

Police said officers responded to a liquor store in the 100 block of E. Fullerton at around 12:27 p.m. for a report of a burglary to a vehicle. The driver told police that he delivered several boxes containing cartons of cigarettes to the store. He stated that he had to make a second trip to get the last two boxes of cigarettes from his truck. He returned to the truck and both boxes were missing. The suspect was seen on camera removing the boxes from the rear of the truck and left in a silver Nissan Versa with a second subject.

Feb. 13

A victim in the 700 block of N. Eastland told police at around 11 a.m. that he holds a checking account with his daughter who is currently attending college. Victim found two unauthorized withdrawals on the account. The bank account was closed by the victim.

Feb. 12

Police said a juvenile suspect took steel rebar from behind a high school in the 300 block of W. St. Charles at around 9:35 a.m. The rebar had been removed over a few days, and taken to a scrapyard. The juvenile suspect was fingerprinted, photographed and released to his parents pending a juvenile disposition.

A victim at a gaming store in the 100 block of N. York told police at around 9:16 p.m. that approximately six children entered his store and sold Pokémon cards. He later discovered the cards he purchased were cards he owned and previously had on display in the front window. An investigation is pending.

Feb. 11

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 5:16 p.m., Irvin Mendoza-Moralez, 25, of Chicago, was found to be in possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and counterfeit $100 bills. Keny Romero-Villanue, 26, of Chicago, was found to have a failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County, according to police. Mendoza-Moralez was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, forgery, no seatbelt and tinted windows. Romero-Villanue was able to post bond on the warrant.

Feb. 10

Randall Lillard, 22, of Maywood, was charged with possession of a fraudulent identification, obstructing identification and resisting a police officer in the 900 block of Riverside at around 9:15 p.m. Police said officers responded for the suspect who attempted to use a fraudulent credit card and fraudulent Illinois identification for payment of a booked room. Upon arrival, the suspect reportedly resisted officers and was taken into custody.

Feb. 9

Marin Antene, 20, of Brookfield, was issued a citation by police for false use of an ID in the 100 block of N. Addison Ave. at around 11:42 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a bar check, Antene was under 21 and used a fraudulent driver’s license to gain entry to the bar.

A victim at a recreational facility in the 100 block of S. West Ave. told police at around 8:50 p.m. that his wallet was stolen from a locker at the facility. The case is pending investigation.

Dec. 16, 2016-Feb. 3

A responding officer spoke with the Elmhurst Hospital security department regarding missing medication from the post anesthesia recovery unit on the second floor of the hospital between the above dates. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 11-Dec. 17

Police said an unknown suspect(s) removed a 10-foot yellow Arctic Snow and Ice Control Products pusher box /plow from the 300 block of W. Lake St. between the above dates. The bob cat that was used to push the plow was found several feet south from where it was parked however the pusher box was missing. The pusher box was entered into LEADS.

Oct. 20, 2016

A victim in the 700 block of N. Indiana told police that he was contacted by a third party/stamp broker who was interested in selling part of his stamp collection. The victim wired several thousand dollars to this broker as bond, guaranteeing that his stamps were authentic. After the victim wired the money, the broker ceased all contact with the victim. The victim has been unable to contact the broker or any of the broker’s representatives.

A victim in the 100 block of E. First told police he was contacted by a third party stamp broker who was interested in selling part of his stamp collection. The victim wired several thousand dollars to this broker as a bond guaranteeing that his stamps were authentic. The broker has since broken all contact with the victim. An investigation is pending.

Sept. 13, 2016

Police said a suspect used a victim’s identity to open a credit card account on the above date. The auto repair work was charged to the credit account of an auto dealership. An investigation is pending.

Unlawful use of a weapon

Feb. 9

An employee of Elmhurst Hospital told police at around 11:59 a.m. that a suspect came into his office for a medical examination. During the examination the suspect removed a handgun from his waistband and placed it on a countertop. After the examination was completed, the suspect left the office. The doctor then reported the incident. Responding officers checked the area but were unable to locate suspect. The Lyons Police Department was contacted and attempted to locate the suspect with no results.

Feb. 12

Mickiel Smith, 18, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm without a FOID card in the 200 block of N. Clinton at around 10:24 p.m. Staff at a hospital called the police station advising that a gunshot victim entered the emergency room and claimed he was shot in Elmhurst. Police said Smith had accidentally shot himself in his vehicle while visiting a friend. Smith did not have a FOID and admitted that he purchased the firearm in Chicago, according to police. The firearm was reported stolen from a residential burglary in Hillside, police said.

Violation of an order of protection

Feb. 12

A victim in the 600 block of N. Willow came to the Police Department and reported she has an active order of protection against her son. She stated her son had been living in Arizona, but she invited him back to Illinois to stay with her. On the above date, she wanted to report the violation of the order of protection. The son was contacted and he agreed to leave.

Warrant service

Feb. 14

Police said Brian Engler, 28, of Bensenville, was found to have a warrant out of DuPage County subsequent to observing a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of an extended stay facility in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 10:03 p.m. He also was cited for possession of cannabis. Paola Castro, 21, of Hanover Park, also was issued a citation for possession of cannabis at the scene.
