Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Battery

Jan. 27

A victim at a pharmacy in the 100 block of S. Palmer told police at around 7:45 p.m. he was changing his girlfriend’s tire when he was punched in the face by a suspect. The suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s girlfriend. The suspect fled the scene. An investigation is pending.

Jan. 31

A complainant in the 400 block of E. May told police that an unknown suspect(s) poured what appeared to be some type of motor oil on her driveway.

Jan. 25-Jan. 26

A complainant at a cemetery in the 400 block of E. Lake St. told police that during the above noted time frame, an unknown suspect(s) drove off the roadway onto the grave sites in an area of approximately 200 yards by 100 yards. The vehicle drove through the area numerous times causing countersinking of numerous gravestones, damage to an open grave site, and destruction of grave decorations. The vehicle appears to have struck a berm, causing damage to the bumper/air deflector as plastic vehicle parts were left at the scene.

Disorderly conduct, trespass notice

Feb. 1

Robert Kouzoukas, 33, of Elmhurst, was charged with disorderly conduct in the 200 block of E. North Ave. at around 2:04 a.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a domestic, and upon arrival, it was found that Kouzoukas had been in an argument with his wife. The complainant confronted Kouzoukas about his yelling, and asked him to leave. That is when Kouzoukas walked toward the complainant while yelling, according to police.

Jan. 30

Police said detectives responded to a disturbance on the second floor in the corridor between Academic and Commons building of a high school in the 300 block of W. St. Charles Road at around 11:20 a.m. It was determined the two suspects engaged in a physical fight during a passing period. The girls were separated and admitted to fighting. Both suspects were released to their mothers and will be referred to Peer Jury.

Jan. 27

Officers responded to the complaint of an irate customer in the lobby of an auto dealership in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 12:55 p.m. The dealership reports that the suspect came into the dealership several times in the past to complain. On the above date, the suspect entered the lobby and became angry and loud. The suspect was served with a trespass notice and then left the property.

Domestic incident, domestic battery

Jan. 27

Victim #1 advised that a juvenile suspect was arguing with the victim in the 100 block of Linden at around 12:50 p.m. The suspect punched the victim in the arm and broke a door. Victim #2 attempted to intervene when he was battered by the suspect. Neither party wished to pursue the matter criminally. The father of the juvenile suspect responded to the residence and took custody of the suspect.

Jan. 29

Henry Cerdas, 43, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and disobeying a stop sign subsequent to a traffic stop near Madison and Prospect at around 12:28 a.m.

Jan. 28

Jason Pecor, 40, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage near Route 83 and North at around 2:56 a.m. subsequent to a traffic stop.

Jan. 27

William Doran, 49, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol near a pub in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 3:50 a.m., subsequent to a person sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia

Jan. 31

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Antonio R. Shanklin, 26, of Chicago, the driver of the vehicle, was found to be driving while license revoked. Shanklin was arrested and transported to the police station where police said it was discovered that he was in possession of a controlled substance, suspected cocaine. Shanklin was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, driving while license revoked and speeding. According to police, Darious A. Lofton, 27, of Calumet City, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a citation.

John M. Thompson, 29, of Elmwood Park, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, no insurance and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near southbound West Avenue and Second Street at around 5:28 p.m.

Jan. 29

Jacoby Gipson, 19, of Maywood, was charged with possession of cannabis, speeding and no insurance, subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Roosevelt at around 12:03 p.m.

Nikki Pamintuan, 24, of Glendale Heights, and Francis Pestano, 24, of Hoffman Estates, were issued citations by police for possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near York at I-290 at around 4:11 p.m. Police said Pestano was additionally cited for possession of cannabis.

Jan. 28

Alexander J. Weiger, 23, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation by police for possession of cannabis in the 100 block of E. First St. at around 10:27 a.m. Police said Weiger was observed holding a cannabis blunt to his mouth in the parking lot of a convenience store in the above location. According to police, Weiger handed the cannabis to officers upon request and also handed over an additional container of cannabis that was located in his vehicle.

Jan. 27

Oscar Gamez, 20, of Addison, was charged with possession of cannabis following a traffic stop near Glade and North at around 4:41 p.m. Police said Gamez was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped.

Ronaldo Perez, 18, of Addison, was charged with possession of cannabis in the 100 block of N. Palmer Drive at around 9:16 p.m. Police said that while on foot patrol, an officer observed Perez smoking a cannabis cigarette while in the pedestrian walkway on the south side of a pharmacy in the above location.

Amika Schafer, 19, of Chicago was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and no insurance, and Brandon Rosario, 20, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and York at around 6:29 p.m. Police said officers located cannabis roaches and a cannabis grinder inside the vehicle.

The staff at a hospital in the 100 block of E. Brush Hill notified officers at around 12:38 p.m. that they suspected illegal drug use by a suspect while she was an admitted patient at the hospital. Hospital security recovered syringes and suspected heroin from the suspect’s personal belongings. The items were collected for evidence. Charges are pending the results of laboratory analysis.

Jan. 26

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and West at around 12:01 a.m., a reporting officer smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. A juvenile suspect was found to be in possession of cannabis. The suspect was charged with possession of cannabis, no insurance and improper lighting.

Suspicious circumstances

Jan. 28

A victim told police at around 7:52 p.m. that he is the owner/landlord of a property in the 200 block of N. Hampshire. He went to the property on the above date to advise his tenants that the building has been sold and they would need to vacate. A suspect became upset and told the property owner that “it would be a shame” if there was a fire at the house. The victim is concerned that the suspect may damage the property prior to vacating. An officer spoke to the suspect, who denied any such statement.

Jan. 21

The mother of a complainant in the 600 block of Fairfield Avenue told police at around 6:32 p.m. that while her daughter was walking home from a friend’s house, a gray 4-door sedan occupied by two males drove by asking, “Hey girl can I have your number?” The victim related she had seen the vehicle an hour before the incident parked at a corner near Sunnyside and Montrose Avenues. A reporting officer checked the area with no results. The suspect is described as a white male with brown, curly hair wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

Feb. 1

Judith Boyd, 21, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft, and Demetri Brookins, 25, of Chicago, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and driving while license suspended at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 12:08 p.m. Police said that subsequent to the report of a retail theft at the store, Boyd and Brookins left the scene prior to the reporting officer’s arrival. According to police, they were both located in Downers Grove and taken in to custody. Police said a search of their vehicle yielded merchandise from the store at the above location, as well as from a store in Lombard, while cannabis and Ecstasy also were located.

Dec. 8, 2016-Jan. 31

A complainant from an auto dealership in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave. told police he was contacted by victim who advised that her vehicle, which she surrendered to the dealership, was not returned to the finance company for forfeiture. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.

Jan. 29

A taxi driver in the 600 block of N. Howard told police at around 3:44 a.m. that he picked up a suspect in front of a hotel in Rosemont described as a black male, around 6-foot tall, skinny, with short curly dreads, a goatee and a mustache, wearing a black jacket with the hood up and blue jeans. The passenger could not give an exact address in Elmhurst and directed the taxi driver to N. Howard, which is a dead end. The suspect stated he had to go inside for money. He then exited the taxi northwest through Crestview Park.

Jan. 28

Cameron McKinney, 19, of Elmhurst, was charged with felony theft at a food store/pharmacy in the 900 block of S. York at around 12:27 a.m. Police said officers responded to the report of an unwanted subject at the above location. While en route, McKinney was located outside, and admitted to taking two bottles of alcohol from a victim without paying, according to police.

A complainant at a fitness center in the 600 block of W. North Ave. told police at around 11:09 a.m. that while she was inside the gym working out, an unknown suspect(s) broke the driver’s side window of her locked vehicle and removed her iPhone.

Jan. 27

A witness reported observing Fed Ex deliver a package to the front porch of a victim’s residence in the 100 block of E. North End at around 5:54 p.m. He later observed a suspect exit a silver car and remove the previously delivered package from the front porch. The suspect fled the scene in a silver vehicle being driven by another person. The suspect is described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a red cap, a gray jacket and blue jeans.

A complainant at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North told police at around 12:10 a.m. that an unknown suspect took four bottles of vodka from the store and left without paying. The suspect is described as a black male with long black dreads, wearing a red jacket, tan pants and black gym shoes.

Dec. 1, 2016-Jan. 27

Theft was reported at a car dealership in the 200 block of W. Grand. Police said an agent for the dealership reports that sometime since last December an Illinois registration sticker had gone missing. The registration form is accounted for, but the corresponding sticker is missing. The missing sticker was entered into LEADS.

Jan. 26

A complainant in the 100 block of N. Haven Road told police at around 5:22 p.m. that her order from Amazon arrived at her apartment this afternoon, and when she checked the apartment foyer, a package was opened, empty, and in the garbage can.

A victim in the 600 block of S. Bryan told police at around 8:39 a.m. that she uses a company to manage her IT needs. She stated that she received a call from someone claiming to be an employee, saying that he needed to credit her account due to an overcharge. The victim was asked to log into her computer and bank account, and subsequently the computer screen went black. The suspect later contacted the victim stating he had made an error and requested that the victim send a money order to correct the error. Victim notified her bank about the fraud and compromised bank account.

A victim in the 100 block of Lawndale told police at around 1:07 p.m. that an unknown suspect contacted Visa, used the victim’s personal information, and had her account’s mailing address changed. There were no fraudulent charges on the credit card. The victim closed the account and requested a police report for a matter of record.

Identity theft was reported at around 3:20 p.m. A victim came to the police station to report that she had been contacted by Syncb/Walmart asking if she had opened a Walmart credit card. She told them she had not after which, they asked for her Social Security number claiming they could then start a claim that she didn’t apply for a card. She did not give the number to them. Experian notified her on today’s date of a security alert reference on that Walmart credit card.

Jan. 25-Jan. 26

Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of N. Kenilworth at around 1:19 p.m. A victim stated he was notified that during the above time frame, an unknown suspect(s) had opened four credit card accounts and two cell phone accounts using his personal information.

Jan. 13

A complainant in the 500 block of W. Fay told police that on the above date, she had a package delivered to her front door. When she attempted to retrieve the package, she found it was missing. The victim checked with her neighbors but was unable to find the package.

Dec. 29, 2016-Jan. 9

A victim in the 500 block of S. Swain told police at around 11:35 a.m. that during the above noted time frame, an unknown suspect(s) transferred an unspecified amount of cash from his line of credit account to his checking account and subsequently made several fraudulent transactions. The victim cancelled his line of credit, and his bank has started a fraud investigation.

Jan. 6

A victim in the 900 block of N. York told police at around 1:41 p.m. that they received a bill from a Ward’s credit card in the mail. The victim does not have a Ward’s credit card. An investigation is pending.

July 1, 2016

A victim in the 900 block of Stratford reported a residential burglary that occurred in July of last year. He realized guns were missing when a Hillside officer arrived at his home on the above date, advising one had been recovered that registered to him. The victim occasionally rents out rooms and believes it could have been one of those renters who stole the guns.

Warrant service

Feb. 1

Police said officers went to the residence of Kenneth Conway, 52, of Elmhurst at around 5:50 p.m. to serve a warrant. Officers identified Conway, took him into custody, and transported him to the police station. The warrant was confirmed, according to police, and Conway was able to post the requisite bond, was issued a new court date, then released.

Police said Estela Flores-Hernandez, 31, of Elmhurst, came into the lobby of the police station at around 7:38 p.m. to surrender herself on a warrant. According to police, a name check showed Flores-Hernandez was wanted on a warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff and also a warrant from the Will County Sheriff. The suspect posted the requisite bond on each warrant, was given new court dates, and then released.

Police said that subsequent to a motorist assist in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 12:42 p.m., Mario Limon-Flores, 22, of Villa Park, was found to be wanted by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant.

Jan. 30

Police said Ralph Robertson, 51, of Wheaton, was found at the Elmhurst Public Library, and upon further investigation, it was found that Robertson had a valid warrant out of DuPage County. Robertson was cited for public intoxication.

Jan. 28

Police said Ryan Howard, 30, of Elmhurst, was found to have a valid failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County in the 200 block of N. West at around 11:21 p.m.

Police said officers responded to the 400 block of Berteau at around 8:42 p.m. to to serve a failure to appear/possession of alcohol warrant to Madeline Pearson, 18, of Elmhurst. Madeline Pearson was taken into custody for the warrant and was transported to the Elmhurst Police Department. According to police, Janet Janet Pearson, 53, of the same address as Madeline Pearson, was found to be in possession of cannabis. Janet Pearson was cited for possession of cannabis at the scene. Madeline Pearson was served with the warrant, posted the requisite bond, and released.

Jan. 23

Police said Forrest Conter, 23, of Elmhurst, came into the Police Station to surrender himself on an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed and Conter was taken into custody. Conter posted the requisite bond, was issued a new court date, and then released.
