Shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23, police from Villa Park responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash on south Ardmore Ave. near the intersection of Jackson St. Two cars were hit; the driver of one vehicle was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck who allegedly caused the accidents was 62-year-old Lawrence Sieber of Glen Ellyn. Some people just don’t have enough consideration for the safety of others, which should be your priority when on the road. It then comes as no surprise that a victim of a truck accident would look into sites like www.joyelawfirm.com/our-communities/summerville/, as getting in touch with a specialist personal injury lawyer seems like the best way to go. As this can be a lot to handle on your own, being able to speak to a professional who knows exactly what they are talking about can make this process a lot less stressful. Not only this, but looking into the process of getting loans for lawsuits is essential, and should be done as quickly as possible for the preparation of a potential lawsuit.

According to police, Sieber ran the stop sign at the Ardmore and Jackson intersection and into the first car. Some people are not as considerate as others are when it comes to road safety. This is why accidents like these happen. Plus, it’s not just cars that are involved in incidents like these- cars and trucks, to motorcycle accidents. For anyone who has found themselves involved in a truck accident and wasn’t sure what to do next, it is never too late to check out sites like www.ckflaw.com/semi-truck-accident-lawyer/ and finally get the legal side of it sorted. Then you can take the time to focus on yourself without the worry.

Sieber then fled from the area south to Roosevelt Rd. where he struck a second vehicle. The victim of the second crash was transported to Elmhurst Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Fleeing the scene of that crash, Sieber proceeded west on Roosevelt where he was spotted by Lombard police officers who attempted to stop him. Sieber then crashed his truck into another vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light at Roosevelt and Finley.

According to police, Sieber struggled against police officers and had to be forcibly removed from his truck. He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated fleeing and eluding and aggravated reckless driving. The victims of this reckless and drunken driving could if they decided to, claim against Sieber for their injuries. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement:

“What I find particularly disturbing in this case is the allegation that after Mr. Sieber crashed his truck into another vehicle he fled the scene in an effort to save his own hide.”

Sieber was scheduled to appear in front of DuPage Judge Daniel Guerin on Tues. Feb. 7.

Bond set at $750,000; Berlin praises local police depts.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced last week that bond has been set for the man who stands accused of severely injuring another motorist. Sieber appeared in Bond Court where Judge Richard Russo set bond at $750,000 with 10% to apply. Sieber has been charged with one count of Aggravated DUI Causing Great Bodily Harm, one count of Leaving the Scene of an accident, one count of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding and one count of Aggravated Reckless Driving. All charges are Class 4 Felonies.

“Operating a motor vehicle is a privilege, not a right,” Berlin added. “And operating a motor vehicle after you have been drinking is not only against the law, it is extremely dangerous and puts the entire public at risk. What I find particularly disturbing in this case is the allegation that after Mr. Sieber crashed his truck into another vehicle he fled the scene in an effort to save his own hide. I would like to thank the Villa Park and Lombard Police Departments for their outstanding work in apprehending Mr. Sieber before he could do any further harm.”

Sieber’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 7, 2017 in front of Judge Daniel Guerin.

The driver of the other vehicle is currently in the hospital in critical condition.

Members of the public are reminded that these complaints contain only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
