If you miss dropping in to Juliann’s Bakery for a coffeecake, there’s good news. There are plenty of coffeecakes and more to be had at a new bakery in the same location called Sweet Heaven.

Owned by Kareen and Oksana Sardaryan, Sweet Heaven has everything you could want for your sweet tooth such as Danish, meringue cookies, mango cheesecake, giant muffins as well as some Armenian specialties. Since both sets of parents of Kareen and Oksana lived in Armenia and many of the baked goods at Sweet Heaven are made from age-old recipes made by their mothers and grandmothers from yesteryear.

Their specialty is a pastry called Rugelach, which is made with walnuts, sugar and cinnamon. Another Armanian pastry is called Gata, sold exclusively at Sweet Heaven.

All the bread, and there are many selections, is from Germany. It is sent over frozen and baked here. Everything else is made on-premise.

Since Mother’s Day and Easter are just around the corner, it’s a good idea to place advance orders early. Sweet Heaven will offer lamb cakes and bunny cakes for the Easter holiday.

The hours of Sweet Heaven are Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 8-4. Located at 488 So. Spring Road, the store can be reached at 630-443-2253.
